Wholesale gas and electricity prices have been increasing over the past week, apart from over the weekend, when they dropped back marginally. Further out, locking in contracts ahead of time is still an attractive proposition, given the pricing shown in the pricing table.
| Gas: A mixed day for gas prices. Prompt and near curve NBP contracts gained in value yesterday, as concerns remain over a wider conflict and its potential impact on energy supplies. This morning, the market is trading up on last night’s close. Power: Power contracts tracked the wider energy complex yesterday, with the exception of the day ahead contract which fell in value due to expected higher wind output. This morning, implied prices are higher than last night’s settlement. Oil: Benchmark crude prices were rangebound yesterday. High volatility remains due to Middle East conflicts and the IEA agreeing to accelerate emergency oil stock releases. Carbon (EUAs): The ICE Dec-26 closed at €84.92/t last night. The contract opened this morning at €84.97/t. Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-26 traded to £62.94/t yesterday. This morning the contract opened £63.43/t. |
