27th August 2025 Energy Price Alert – UK Gas & UK Electricity

On Tuesday, wholesale gas and electricity gave up most of their gains from Friday.

Gas: NBP prices began to shed value yesterday with British linepack expected to finish the day long. Lower demand weighed on prompt prices despite a number of planned and unplanned outages.

Power: Power prices declined yesterday, tracking movements within NBP contracts. Bearish benchmark carbon contracts pressured the season ahead contract. This morning, early trading is down slightly on last night’s close.

Carbon (EU ETS): The ICE Dec-25 closed at €72.75/t last night. The contract opened at €72.73/t this morning and is trading at €72.94/t at time of writing.

Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-25 closed at £52.18/t yesterday. The contract opened at £52.08/t this morning and is currently trading at £52.32/t.
