Wholesale gas and electricity prices rose sharply on Wednesday, but we have not yet seen this come through into the retail market.
Gas: Prices rose yesterday with a cold snap in temperature increasing gas demand. Temperatures are set to remain cold into the weekend. This morning so far, early trading is down on last nights close.
Power: Power prices tracked the wider energy complex yesterday, with gains experienced throughout the curve. Trading has started slow this morning but currently the month ahead contract is slightly down on close.
Oil: Crude prices fell yesterday on the worry that the recent economic stimulus measures in China may not be enough. Losses were capped by dwindling inventory levels.
Carbon (EU ETS): The ICE Dec-24 contract rallied yesterday, closing at €65.24/t yesterday. The contract is currently trading slightly down on close at €64.68/t.
Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-24 closed at £38.40/t yesterday. Opening today at the same price, the contract is currently trading at £38.37/t.
