Wholesale gas and electricity prices continued to diverge on Wednesday, with electricity staying stable whilst gas decreased. All in all, this is good news.
| Gas: Most NBP contracts shed value yesterday, with a drop in demand and a strong wind forecast pressuring prices. An unplanned outage at Perenco’s gas treatment plant in Dimlington was expected to be resolved by the end of the day. Power: Power prices declined yesterday, with contracts largely following their NBP counterparts. Losses in benchmark UKA prices pressured front-season prices. A slow start to trading this morning has contracts valued above last nights close. Carbon (EU ETS): The ICE Dec-25 closed at €69.36/t yesterday. Opening at €69.87/t this morning, the contract is currently trading at €69.50/t. Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-25 ended yesterday at £49.48/t yesterday. The contract opened at £49.75/t this morning and is currently trading at £49.48/t at the time of writing. |
