1st September 2026 Energy Price Alert – UK Gas & UK Electricity

Last week ended on Friday with gas and electricity prices dropping as the current seesaw continues with the geopolitical situation in Hormuz.

Gas: NBP prices were mixed last Friday. In the prompt/near curve, contracts fell in value as participants looked to secure profit ahead of the long weekend. Further out on the curve, movements were muted. This morning the market has opened aggressively following further escalation to conflict in the Middle East.

Power: Power contracts largely tracked NBP movements at the culmination of last week. Following the bank holiday weekend, early market movements today have been bullish.

Oil: Oil prices fell at the tail end of last week. This morning prices have rebounded by over 2% after fresh strikes between the US and Iran.

Carbon (EUAs): The ICE Dec-26 closed at €82.73/t last Friday. The contract opened this morning at €82.71/t.

Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-26 traded to £59.39t yesterday, opening this morning at £59.05/t.
