On Thursday, wholesale gas and electricity prices rose, but due to decreases earlier in the week, they remain below the psychological levels of £80 per MWh and 80p per therm for gas. On the generation front, renewables accounted for less than 15%, which has driven prices up to nearly £100 per MWh. We do not expect this to continue, as wind levels are likely to increase during winter – although so will demand.
