14th August 2025 Energy Price Alert – UK Gas & UK Electricity

On Thursday, wholesale gas and electricity prices rose slightly, but nowhere near the movements of the last few days.

Gas: Gas prices rebounded yesterday, reversing the previous day’s losses. Demand and forecasted low wind output continue to push price upwards. British storage injections have been steady since the start of the month but slowed yesterday.

Power: Power prices tracked NBP movements across the near curve yesterday. Forecasted high temperatures and low wind output supported the prompt. This morning trading is slightly down on last nights close.

Carbon (EU ETS): The ICE Dec-25 closed at €71.47/t yesterday. The contract opened at €71.71/t this morning and is currently trading at €71.32/t.

Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-25 settled at £51.53/t yesterday. The contract opened at £51.55/t and is trading at £51.30/t at the time of writing.
