10th June 2025 Energy Price Alert – UK Gas & UK Electricity

Wholesale gas and electricity prices dropped markedly on Monday, which was a welcome start to the week. We expect continuing volatility given the current geo-political turbulence.

Gas: Trading was bearish yesterday as prices fell throughout the curve. The prompt was pressured by strong wind generation. Volatility is expected today, with wind outputs expected to shift throughout the day.

Power: The front week contract was pressured by strong renewable output during yesterday’s session, with much of the curve tracking the downturn in NBP prices. This morning, early trading is down on last night’s close.

Oil: Oil prices gained slightly yesterday, despite disappointing economic data coming out of China. Contracts were supported by hopes of a positive outcome to tariff talks between the US and China.

Carbon (EU ETS): The ICE Dec-25 rose to €74.23/t yesterday. The contract opened at €74.01/t this morning and is currently trading at €73.61/t.

Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-25 closed yesterday at £51.41/t. The contract has opened this morning at £51.50/t and is currently trading at £51.45/t.
