20th March 2026 Energy Price Alert – UK Gas & UK Electricity
As expected, we are still seeing high levels of volatility in the wholesale gas and electricity markets and as such are unable to provide an indicative table at this time.
On the Generation front we are currently seeing prices of £94.32/MWh. Renewables were the main driver this past week with 49.4%, followed by fossil fuels at 21.9%.
Gas: Gas prices continued to surge upwards yesterday as the market tracks the ongoing strikes in the Middle East across the area’s energy infrastructure with the recent attacks hitting Qatar’s Ras Laffan, a major LNG distributor.
Power: Power prices continued to track the volatility of the gas and oil markets yesterday after Qatar reported “extensive damage” to its LNG facilities.
Oil: Oil prices rose yesterday, peaking at $119/barrel but softened before the close to still post a daily increase. Trading was volatile as Iran attacked energy targets across the UAE.
Carbon (EUAs): The ICE Dec-26 fell to €63.65/t last night. The contract opened this morning at €63.52/t.
Carbon (UKAs): The ICE Dec-26 traded to £34.67/t yesterday, opening this morning at £34.85/t.
