27th January 2026 Energy Price Alert – UK Gas & UK Electricity

On Monday wholesale Gas and Electricity prices started to fall in the immediate term again – a welcomed change after last week’s highs.

On April and October start date contracts, decreasing prices can be seen, also.

Gas: NBP prices eased off slightly yesterday, after day ahead prices recently reached a multi month high. This week, strong winds expected at LNG terminals are likely to trouble berthing activity, potentially impacting send out.

Power: Most power prices fell in value yesterday, tracking losses in NBP contracts. Further bearishness in carbon UKA prices impacted further out on the curve. The full capacity outage at Heysham 2 reactor 8 is set to end, today, at midday.

Oil: Oil prices fell slightly by yesterday’s close, after an initial gain. The market is currently weighing up geopolitical tensions and the impact the current storms in the US may have on the market.

Carbon (EUAs):  The ICE Dec-26 fell in value yesterday, closing at €87.13/t. The contract has opened at €87.62/t this morning.

Carbon (UKAs):  The ICE Dec-26 fell to £66.55/t last night. It opened slightly higher this morning at £67/t.
