16th August 2024 Energy Price Alert – UK Gas & UK Electricity

On Thursday, wholesale gas and electricity prices were broadly stable, albeit the changes that happened did move prices ever so slightly up.

On the generation front, renewables accounted for 45% of generation in the past week which lead to the generated price staying low at £48.57/MWh which is good news.

At the retail level, increases that we had seen, have started to drop back and for credit worthy business in the right sectors we expect pricing to be below 20p/kWh and around 5p/kWh for gas.
